This course is designed to develop and deepen the capacity of secondary mathematics teachers to create and facilitate high-quality learning opportunities for English Learners. Participants will explore the demographic, disciplinary, and instructional shifts necessary to improve learning conditions in math classrooms. The course emphasizes identifying cross-cutting concepts that link algebra, geometry, and statistics, while promoting student agency by providing purposeful language choices aligned with key mathematical practices. Teachers will also learn to design lessons that support and encourage increased participation from English Learners over time, fostering both their academic and linguistic development.

The 麻豆传媒团队 partners with this program to offer graduate-level extension credit(s) in semester hours through the Credit Validation Program. To earn units, participants must register for and successfully complete coursework through the external program provider.
Credits earned through 麻豆传媒团队’s Credit Validation Program are widely accepted by many school districts and universities across the United States for purposes such as license renewal, required professional development hours, short-term skill building, salary advancement, credentialing, and potential advanced degree pathways. These units do not apply toward a master’s or higher degree program at the 麻豆传媒团队; however, they may be transferable to advanced degree programs (e.g., MA, EdD, PhD) at other institutions that accept external graduate-level credits.
Participants are responsible for confirming acceptance, transcript requirements, deadlines, and applicability of units with their employing district or intended institution prior to enrollment.
Audience: Mathematics teachers in grades 6–12 who work with English Learners
Refund Policy: All Credit Validation enrollments are refundable, minus a $25 processing fee, if requested within 30 days of the enrollment date. No refunds will be issued after the 30-day period. Refunds will not be issued once a grade has been assigned or after the 30-day period has passed.
