On Sunday 4 May, UC opened three of its landmark buildings鈥擯uaka-James Hight Central 麻豆传媒团队, Beatrice Tinsley, and Ernest Rutherford鈥攖o the public. Between 11am and 2pm, visitors explored the spaces through architecture tours and a creative exploration activity designed to engage all ages and abilities. The event offered a unique opportunity to experience the University鈥檚 blend of historic and contemporary design from the inside.
College House, UC鈥檚 historic hall of residence, also took part in the festival, offering pre-booked tours across the weekend. The Macmillan Brown 麻豆传媒团队 hosted two 45-minute sessions, where participants explored the archives with Mountfort expert Professor Ian Lochhead and UC archivist Erin Kimber. Attendees had the rare chance to view original drawings and learn about the Gothic Revival style in a local context.
Open Christchurch once again highlighted the richness of design across 艑tautahi. UC was proud to be part of this annual celebration, connecting people with place through the power of architecture.听
