We depend on healthy ecosystems to support our everyday life. We need them for our food, water, and clothing, along with other essentials for human success, but with threats like climate change, habitat loss and human activities, we are at risk of losing our planet鈥檚 vibrant biodiversity.
Not all hope is lost 鈥 our researchers and students here at UC are finding ways to navigate through some of the risks to these ecosystems, and they鈥檙e contributing to ecological sustainability and nature-based solutions, too. Black soldier flies could be used to reduce waste, drone-like vehicles could help with tricky environment upkeep, and 200-level students are already conducting research with real-world impact. We鈥檙e even looking into how to stop salmon populations being deteriorated by bacteria.
There鈥檚 some pretty cool stuff happening, keep your eye on the UC News page to read each story as they鈥檙e released.
